Details are limited; the investigation continues into overnight shootings
Three people were shot overnight in Clay County, one dead; investigation continues.
A 911 call around 2 a.m. reporting a “domestic situation” and one person was shot sent Clay County Sheriff’s deputies and first responders to an east side Clay City residence.
A short time later, another 911 call reported two people had been shot and were in a car at the Pilot Travel Center at I-70. Lending a helping hand, officers from Brazil Police Department, Parke County Sheriff’s Department, and first responders responded to that scene.
Clay County Sheriff Paul Harden offered his “thanks” Saturday afternoon to the various departments that worked on the two incidents, citing that all departments worked well together.
The female suffering from gunshot wounds at the Clay City residence was stabilized and then air-lifted to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.
The two males at I-70 Pilot Station were treated at the scene. STAR transported one to Regional Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
The third man was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot injuries by the Clay County Coroner’s Office.
(NOTE: Due to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, additional information about the medical condition of victims is unavailable.
