Main Street by Moonlight: Annual shopping day in downtown Brazil Saturday

Some local businesses are extending their shopping hours this Saturday (Dec. 3rd) for "Main Street by Moonlight."

It started in 2015, when A Bushel & A Peck owner Lindsey Mershon changed the event's name, "Moonlight Madness," to put her unique spin on the shopping event she helps organize.

Mershon said it's the perfect opportunity for residents to stroll along Main Street, meet their neighbors, and support local businesses.

"We hope people come out and finish their Christmas shopping," said Mershon. "Each participating business will have special events to entice shoppers to stop by. Bring the kids and your camera for free pictures with Santa at A Bushel & A Peck from 7-9 p.m."

Mershon said other businesses participating include:

* A Bushel & A Peck - 10 West National Avenue - 6 to midnight - the store will also have hot chocolate, cookies, and plenty of discounts.

* Age of Aquarius - 506 West National Avenue - open till midnight - with a 25% discount on one item and 20% off all other merchandise, excluding singing bowls and consignment items.

* Off the Hinge Antiques - 201 North Walnut Street - open till 9 p.m. - offers wine tasting while shopping.

* The Back 40 Boutique - 14 West National Avenue - open 7-11 p.m. - with new arrivals for this event.

* First Love Yourself FLY Boutique - 719 East Jackson Street - open 6-10 p.m. - offers in-store specials, added vendors, and wine slushie samples.

* Sister's Antiques - 123 East National Avenue - open till 9 p.m. - is having a drawing for a Holly Tree.

"This event is always so exciting," said Mershon. "I hope everyone can come to enjoy the evening in Brazil."
