Dear Editor

On behalf of the staff and students at Van Buren Elementary,

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who has made generous donations and supported us this year.

A thank you to Lori Knight from the Brazil American Legion for contacting us and donating bicycles for children in need. The Legion received refurbished bikes from Bill Searing, who works at the Putnamville Correctional Prison. The bicycles were given to many VBE families, and we are positive Christmas morning was a bit more special for those children.

Over the last several weeks, many parents and community members have donated to our schoolwide events, including a trip to Terre Haute to watch The Grinch and have lunch at a nice restaurant. Another event that would have been impossible without everyone’s generosity is our Santa Shop. Every student is allowed to choose a present for their family members. The students then wrap these presents, sneak them home, and put them under the Christmas tree. We could not have pulled this off without everyone’s generosity.

We would also like to thank Josh Trout, Ali Rissler, and the Northview High School Honor Society for their support in providing our book exchange box for the front of our school. This box will be a great way for students and parents to come to the school and get books to read at home.

It is great to see our community coming together this Christmas season. Everyone is showing such a giving spirit! We appreciate all of the support given to our school and community.
