Billy Jean Schopmeyer, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on August 10, 1928 in Terre Haute to the late Herbert and Anne (Emery) Schultz. Billy graduated from high school in Gary, Indiana in 1945, and later graduated from nursing school at Indiana State University in 1949. She married Clarence Xychus Schopmeyer on August 12, 1949. Billy worked as a nurse for over 40 years, spending most of her career at Dr. Buell’s office in Clay City. After retirement, Billy enjoyed taking care of her grandkids. She loved her cats and watching the birds.

Billy is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Xychus Schopmeyer; great-grandson, Gavin LaMar; brother, Herbert Schultz; and sister, Betty Freeman. Survivors include her sons, Lee (Kelly) Schopmeyer of Bowling Green, Marlin (Jill) Schopmeyer of Bowling Green; daughters, Vickie (David) Haskins of Bowling Green, Marlene (Tony) Blackburn of West Chester, Ohio; grandchildren, Courtney Schopmeyer-LaMar, Grant (Kelli) Schopmeyer, Haylee (Aaron) Kinser, Justine Schopmeyer, Victoria Schopmeyer, Luke Schopmeyer, Jordynn Scott, Jaylynn Scott, Ben Garlit, Laine Auler, Rea-Jean (Nick) Carson, Brenden (Michelle) Blackburn, and Alessandra (Joe) Chabries.
