Mr. Edward Alan Nevins, 81, of N. Lake Louise Drive, Mocksville, North Carolina, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at his home. He was born in Clay County, Indiana on December 27, 1941, to the late Marion Russell and Helen Maxwell Nevins.

For many years, Edward and Patricia were very active members with their church; The Brazil (UPC) United Pentecostal Church, of which Edward was also a ‘trustee’ for many years.

In his work years, he was a member of the build team that built the I-70 west section, and worked numerous general contracting roles. He later went to work for Public Service Indiana, notably spending many years in the control room at the Wabash River power station. In addition to a busy work life, he served his community for many years in various roles with the Clay County Council and as friends and family know, he was always keen to talk politics.

In early retirement, as you might expect with a Nevins boy, he continued to work. Working for several years with his brother Bob at Mansfield Stone in Brazil Indiana, notably including supplying stone for the Indiana Museum & Historic Sites. In later retirement Edward and Patricia relocated to North Carolina to enjoy the warmer climate and be closer to their grandchildren.

In his free-time, he enjoyed being with friends and family, playing board games, cooking, driving, and vacation trips. He loved to go to car shows and riding around in in his red F150. He had a love of history and American culture and as various friends know, he loved to just meet, drink coffee, and talk, in fact he never considered anyone a stranger, and was always friendly with everyone he met and was first to lend a helping hand with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Nevins.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia Henry Nevins; two daughters, Patsy Nevins-Plant (Tom) of Advance, North Carolina and Angela Renee Nevins of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandchildren, Andrew Mitchell Plant, and Laura Elizabeth Plant; a brother, Robert Nevins (Cheryl) of Brazil, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
