Vigo County Sheriff’s Chief Stephen Meng provided information about this situation to The Brazil Times.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, the incident began at the Seelymart Gas Station on East US 40 when an alert deputy spotted Corbin’s truck backed up to the closed business and decided to inquire.

Officials say Corbin initially provided a false name and the last four digits of a social security number. However, while talking to a female passenger in the vehicle, the deputy learned Corbin’s true identity, and he had an outstanding warrant for Resisting Arrest.

When asked to step out of the truck, Corbin fled, almost striking another officer at the scene.

A high-speed chase ensued, moving from Seelyville to Terre Haute, back onto US 40, and into Clay County. Officials reported speeds above 90 mph and through various residential yards.

Corbin turned southbound on N County Road 675 West in Clay County, where Corbin’s truck became stuck on a property on West County Road 600 North when he failed to navigate an intersection. Leaping from his vehicle, Corbin then allegedly fled on a short-foot chase through the backyard of a nearby residence with officers following.

Corbin reportedly gave up and was taken into custody without further incident.

Corbin remains in custody awaiting formal court proceedings in Vigo County Division 1 Superior court on Jan. 20.

Some of the affidavit presented to the prosecutor’s office was redacted to protect the integrity of any ongoing investigation and the court case.

(All individuals named in this matter are presumed innocent until proven guilty.)
