Susan Louise Farris Crick, 83 of Brazil, passed away January 19, 2023, at Union Hospital. She was born September 11, 1939 in Clay County, the daughter of Stanley Menuard Farris and Vada Ellen Flockhart Farris. Susie graduated from Staunton High School with the Class of 1957. She attended Indiana State Teachers College and received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Almeda.

On June 24, 1961, Susie was united in marriage to William A. Crick. While they were in the Shelbyville area for Bill’s career, Susie served on the Board of the Girls Club as Secretary. As their path brought them back to Brazil, they both were active members of the 1st Presbyterian Church. Susie has served the church in many capacities including Deacon, Trustee and Elder. She brought over 60 children from the neighborhood to Bible School over the years. She also has been dedicated to serving Sunday Suppers each week.

Susie has been an active member in Clay County, serving as a past board member of the Brazil Public Library, and as Secretary and President; a Founder of the Clay County Literacy Foundation, along side with Father Spicuzza and Dr. Robert Maurer; member of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, Clay County Secretary; Tri-Kappa member and P.E.O. Sisterhood.

These simple words do not do justice to the person the Miss Susie truly was. She was someone that gave of her time, talents, experience, energy, and substance. She was a joy to know and to love.

Survivors include her son, William Jobe Crick, and wife Deborah Binder Crick; her grandchildren, Owen Turner Geswein, Gracelle Rebecca Geswein (fiancé Cevin), Victoria Marie-Louise Doughty (Austin), William Samuel Crick; sister Barbara Stearley and many nieces, nephews, greats, and great-greats.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and a sister; her husband Bill Crick in 2005 and their daughter Sarah Crick Geswein in 2018.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church, 210 N. Walnut St. Brazil, IN with Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Poland Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, envelopes will be available.
