TOP STORY OF THE DAY: Northview graduate is calling the shots
A Northview graduate recently won an award for his ability to “call the shots.”
Tyler Hutcheson works with his friend country music singer and songwriter Luke Combs.
“Luke is my friend and my boss,” said Tyler while traveling back to Nashville for a concert. “Luke is probably one of the most genuine and honest people you will ever meet, and he’s so grateful.”
Tyler recently won the Tour Video Director of the Year at the 2022 Country Music Association’s Touring Awards, which highlight the behind-the-scenes members of the country music touring industry.
What does Tyler do as a tour video director?
Tyler is behind the scene in a video control room during a concert, “calling the shots” the cameramen need to take for video.
“If you ever watch a concert video, that’s what I do,” he said, who is thankful for the hometown support he has received during his career journey. “I was humbled to be nominated.”
Tyler explained his start in the business began while helping to organize Northview High School’s Christmas Spectacular, to college to study Technical Theater Design, and then led him to where he is now.
“My name might be the one listed on this award, but there are so many people behind this that it’s unreal,” he said. “I’m scared to start listing names as I know someone will be missed, but I have to call a few people out.”
Tyler and his family have deep roots in Clay County. His wife, Lisa, and their children live in the area and attend local schools. Tyler’s parents, Earl and Lori Hutcheson, instilled a sense of community pride.
“Whatever the problem, be part of the solution,” said Tyler, who admits to being proud of his community when he comes home and has no problem picking up trash or mowing weeds. “Don’t just sit around raising questions and pointing out obstacles.”
