IHSAA unveils boys basketball sectional brackets

On Sunday night, the IHSAA set the 2022-23 boys high school basketball state tournament brackets with the annual sectional draw hosted by the Champions Network.

Teams around the state huddled together around their respective televisions or mobile devices awaiting word on who and when they’ll be playing beginning in the first week of March.

Listed below are the brackets for Clay City and Northview, respectively:

Class A White River Valley Sectional

Feb. 28 –Shakamak vs. Bloomington Lighthouse, 6:30 p.m.

March 1 –White River Valley vs. Dugger, 6 p.m.

March 1 –Bloomfield vs. Clay City, 7:30 p.m.

March 3 –North Central vs. Shakamak/Bloomington Lighthouse winner, 6 p.m.

March 3 –White River Valley/Dugger winner vs. Bloomfield/Clay City winner, 7:30 p.m.

March 4 – Sectional championship, 7:30 p.m.

• Clay City’s sectional outlook: Clay City will open the Class A WRV Sectional on March against Class A No. 1 Bloomfield. In the team’s previous meeting, which came on Dec. 9, the Cardinals defeated the Eels by a score of 69-53. Clay City struggled in the first half of that game, but roared back in the second half to make things interesting down the stretch.

Class 3A Northview Sectional

Feb. 28 – Owen Valley vs. Northview, 6:30 p.m.

March 1 – South Vermillion vs. Brown County, 6 p.m.

March 1 – Edgewood vs. West Vigo, 7:30 p.m.

March 3 – Indian Creek vs. Owen Valley/Northview winner, 6 p.m.

March 3 – South Vermillion/Brown County winner vs. Edgewood/West Vigo winner, 7:30 p.m.

March 4 – Sectional championship, 7:30 p.m.

• Northview’s sectional outlook: Northview opens the Class 3A Northview Sectional on Feb. 28 against Owen Valley. In the team’s previous meeting, which came on Jan. 7, the Patriots defeated the Knights by a score of 70-55. Northview possessed a lead at the half, but Owen Valley locked down on defense the rest of the way to walk away victoriously.
