Troy Farris and Ben Myers won the first big tournament of the year at Forest Park in Brazil by making a birdie on the second playoff hole over Buford Peebles and Rick Langdon. Peebles and Langdon shot 57 on a bright, warm Saturday to have a three-shot lead going into the final round on Sunday.
Sunday’s weather was a mixture of heavy wind, rain, sleet and light snow with about an hour delay part way through the round as hail covered many greens, making play impossible. Farris and Myers somehow managed to shoot a 60 on Sunday to pull into a tie for first place in the championship flight, requiring a playoff with Peebles and Langdon, who shot a 66 to finish at 123, matching the 123 by Farris and Myers. After both teams parred the first hole, Farris and Myers birdied the par 3 hole number 2 for the win.
