Pastor William Lewis Price, Brazil, IN

Pastor William Lewis Price, 90, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at his home, peacefully, on May 5, 2023.

Bill was born on March 11, 1933, in Brazil, Indiana, the son of James H. and Myrtle (Reed) Price. He graduated, as Valedictorian, from Van Buren High School with the class of 1951.

As a young man, Bill worked for the State Highway Department and his father Jim Price at the DX Bulk Plant. He also worked as an insurance salesman and at MAB Paint Store. Bill began attending Indiana Central College and then North Central College, graduating with a degree in education. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from DePauw University.

As an educator, Bill first worked for Southwest Park School Corporation and Clay Community Schools where he taught History, Speech, and enjoyed coaching for many years. He later served as Principal at Montezuma High School and was the last Principal at Van Buren High School. He retired as Assistant Principal at Northview High School in 1998.

Bill married Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones on March 31, 1956; she preceded him in death on April 28, 2020, after 64 years of marriage.

In the early 1960’s, Bill was called to the ministry. He preached at Mt. Lebanon, Harmony Community, and Ebenezer Church, where he continued to preach for over 60 years. Preaching the Gospel and the Message of the Cross was his greatest privilege and joy.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents: James and Myrtle Price; his wife Jacqueline Price; two siblings: James Henry Price Jr. and Jack Junior Price.

Bill is survived by his 3 children: John Price of Brazil, Ann Hayes and husband Greg of Brazil, and Jamie Webster and husband Danny of Brazil; grandchildren: Mica Amis (Joe), Mandy Block (Kelyn), Jenna Turchi (Travis), Hayley Staley (Austin), Lexee Hayes, Amy Smock (Bobby), Rebecca Schmitt (David), and Jamie Price; great-grandchildren: Mallory, Londyn, Kyren, Eden, Maren, Judah, Rhoan, Leia, Ridge, Lennox, Blakeley, Cree, Audri, Taylor, and Karen as well as his extended church family.

Visitation will be at Ebenezer Church, 1698 E. Co. Rd. 1350 N. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 3-8 PM. Private graveside services will be held at Calcutta Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ebenezer Church at 954 E. County Road 1100 N. Brazil, Indiana 47834.
