The Clay County Humane Society has exciting news: An anonymous donor is going t match the next $50,000 of donations raised for the expansion project.

“We have sent out mailers recently announcing the donation challenge and a donation wall to raise funds to help with the final push for the remaining funds to help with the construction expenses,” said CCHS Board Vice President Toni Carter. “We are focusing on this rallying point to complete the project.”

Several hundred information packets have been recently sent out to local businesses and residents explaining the new 40-kennel project for dogs.

Carter said the additional building would allow the elimination of outdoor dog kennels. This building will have 40 new indoor kennels and free up space to expand the surgery center.

The property behind the current shelter was recently appropriated for this expansion. The new building will allow the dogs to have a 5x5 indoor kennel separated by a guillotine door that will enable them to utilize a 5x10 outdoor space.

“This will allow the dogs to have a better quality of life. Sometimes, these dogs can only get outside once or twice a day. Now they will be able to get out, their bedding will be cleaner, the kennels will be cleaner, and they will be able to be more active and healthy,” said Carter. “These 40 new indoor kennels will free up space for us to expand our surgery center.”

During this final push for funding, the lobby at the CCHS is being turned into a permanent “Kennel Sponsor Wall,” and the kennels in the building will display plaques.

Different levels of sponsorship include;

$5,000- Sponsor A Kennel with a plaque o display by a specific kennel in the new building

$1,000 - Gold Sponsor for a plaque on a shared wall in the lobby

$500- Silver Sponsor for a plaque on a shared wall in the lobby

$250 - Sponsor for a plaque on a shared wall in the lobby

The anonymous donor from the Brazil area loves animals, and they hope residents feel the same passion for helping these animals find their fur-ever homes.
