Brazil Concert Band saluting dads Sunday

On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, the Brazil Concert Band with Director Matthew Huber will present “A Salute to Dad” at 8 p.m. at the Forest Park bandshell, or at the pavilion in case of rain.

A variety of music for Dad will include “The Fairest of the Fair” by John Philip Sousa, “Kentucky Sunrise” by Karl L. King, “Jolly Robbers Overture” by Franz von Suppé and arranged by L.P. Laurendeau, “St. Louis Blue March” by W.C. Handy and “French National Defile March” by A. Turlet.

In “Good Ole Days Sing-Along" arranged by James Ployhar, the audience will get to sing with the band to the tunes of “Daisy Bell,” “In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree,” “The Little Brown Church in the Vale,” “You Tell Me Your Dream,” “And the Band Played On,” “Wait ’Til the Sun Shines, Nellie” and “Auld Lang Syne.”

Music from classic TV sitcoms arranged by Paul Jennings will feature “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “Mister Ed,” “Leave It to Beaver,” “Hogan’s Heroes March,” “The Ballad of Jed Clampett,” “Bewitched,” “The Munsters,” “Green Acres” and “I Love Lucy.”

Also on hand will be “The Bride Elect March” by Sousa, “Donkey Honk Rag” by Stephen Kent Goodman,“Invercargill” by Alex Lithgow and “His Honor” by Henry Fillmore.

The Forest Park concession stand will be managed by Christmas in the Park with hamburgers and hot dogs.

The Brazil Concert Band plays every Sunday evening in June, July and August.
