Joan M. Funk, Brazil, IN

Joan M. Funk, 83, of Brazil, Indiana passed away on June 15, 2023 at her residence.

Joan was born in Johnson County, Indiana to Ralph and Florence Hommel. She was baptized into Christianity in 1952 and graduated from Union Township School in Franklin, Indiana in 1957.

In 1958 marriage brought her to Vigo County where she worked in business at Reuben H. Donnelly, Chesty Foods, and retired from Indiana State University in 2004. She married Donald Funk on August 10, 1985 who preceded her in death in 2020. Her joyous sense of humor, and musical talent on the piano and accordion will forever be cherished by her children Darla Seitz (Matt Brush) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Robert Skaggs (Toni) of West Lafayette and Kimberly Andergiri of Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Six grandchildren, Garret Newhouse (Allison Stevenson) of Brazil, Taylor Forsman (Fred) of Terre Haute, Nicole Sondgerath (Taylon) of Lafayette, Yasmine, Abdulaziz, and Hatim Andergiri of Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Four great grandchildren, Kyler, Aria, Zade and Alayna.

As a young woman, Joan enjoyed bowling and ballroom dancing. Later in life, Joan enjoyed planting flowers and spending time with her family.

A family service will be held in Johnson County at a later date.
