Norma Lee Barrick Pugh, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 30, 2023. A family Graveside Service will be held later in Oak Hill Cemetery, Riley, Indiana.

Norma was born August 4, 1929 in Brazil, Indiana, daughter of the late Alfred Barrick and Norma Mae Thomas Barrick. She married Eugene B Pugh, a Staunton High School classmate, on June 6, 1950 and they raised three children during Gene’s 22-year Army career which spanned two wars and multiple deployments. Norma moved to Charleston, SC in 1980, living there for over 42 years.

She was a retired admissions administrator who worked at St. Francis hospital for 16 years. She was also a long-time resident of The Canterbury House where she enjoyed the friendship of many, worked at the front desk and rarely missed the weekly bingo games.

The biggest joy in her life came from her family, whom she loved dearly. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Debra Lynn Johnson. She is survived by daughter, Dawn Gordon (Jeff) of Charleston, SC; son, Ken Pugh (Jennifer) of New Albany, IN; son-in-law Keith Johnson of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Stiles (Andy), Kelli Cutler (Jeremy), Kristopher Pugh (Jessica), Wyatt Tapp, Jarod Tapp, Danielle Schellie (Dave), Andrew Gordon (Jamie) and Elise Gordon; thirteen great grandchildren, Eric Stiles, Emily Stiles, Kate Stiles, Maddy Cutler, Sophie Cutler, Emma Pugh, Hadley Pugh, Callum Pugh, Boden Pugh, Gabe Tapp, Cason Tapp, Alexander Tapp and Athena Tapp.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to The Canterbury House residents’ fund, which supports resident activities. Checks made out to The Canterbury House Residents’ Fund may be mailed to The Canterbury House, 175 Market St, Charleston, SC 29401.
