A date is set for the $10,000 food distribution for Clay County families that lost food during the June 29th storm.

On July 19, Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham and Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan received a $10,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, which will be used to supply meat for the Drive-Thru Distribution on Tuesday, August 15 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Forest Park Pavillion (AKA Cow Palace.) Cars can enter through the softball entrance and follow the signs.

NOTE: No one will need to get out of their vehicles.

McClellan said the City has partnered with the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry to provide $6,000 in hamburger and $4,000 in hams to help individuals and families who lost food, mainly meat, due to the storm (June 29, 2023), low-income, and senior citizens (65 and older).

“Meat is so expensive right now,” said McClellan about providing only meat during the distribution event.”There will only be one per household, and they must have identification and proof of residency: a driver’s license will work.”
