BENWOOD MT. LEBANON CHURCH

James 1:1-8 consider it pure joy when’re you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance (some translations use patience). These are so we may be mature and complete. We can ask God for wisdom and He will give it generously to all who believe and not doubt. Trials and tests are those things that try to draw us away from the guidance of the Holy Spirit and being who Christ wants us to be. We don’t have to like them, and generally don’t. God wants us to know He is with us through them and they bring long term benefits to those who pass the tests. We are blessed with maturity and understanding, but also it may be for others to be blessed and matured by seeing how we handle the trials we are in. God knows who we are, but He wants us to really know who we are and not just who we think we are. Patience doesn’t come naturally. It’s gained through these tests and trials. Books can teach many things but real life experiences, god and bad, teach us more. We gain wisdom on how to use the knowledge we have. When trials come we can choose to be bitter or to be better, we can choose to follow the Spirit within us or our fleshly desire. Maturity comes when we choose rightly.
