Matie Elizabeth "Libby" (Ferge) Day, age 73 of Bowling Green, Indiana departed her loving family on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Libby was the daughter of Dean Ferge and Geneva Ferge, she was born on February 23, 1950, in Lee County, Virginia.

Libby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She found pure joy in the simple things of life. She loved and cherished her family above all else. She was an amazing storyteller and had a liking for old folklore. She had the ability to bring stories to life and has impacted so many through this gift. She was a gifted artist whose paintings revealed her heart, soul, and her love for nature. Many of her beloved paintings remain with her family to this day. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries and thrillers. She found great joy in spending time with her family, whether it was having a cup of coffee, talking about genealogy, playing a game of Scrabble, or going on a spooky car ride.

She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years David Day, her children Geneva Diana Leohr (Anthony), Darrell Steven Wheeler (Maureen), Mariann Shyron Torbert (Matt), and Bailey William Blaine Piland. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren: Christopher, Jon, Patricia, Paul, Amber, Cody, Caitlyn, Briar, Courtney, Cole, Mahayle, Destiny, Isaac, Daelynn, Josie, and Seraphine and 19 great-grandchildren. Siblings Delbert Ferge (Kathy), Sam Ferge (Vi), and Vicki May (Sam), Heidi Hood (Rob), many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dean and Geneva Ferge, her daughter Carissa Lynn Piland, her sister Bonny Perry, her brother Don Ferge, her nephew Brion Ferge, and her sister-in-law and best friend Barbara Bolin.

A Celebration of Life has been planned for September 23, 2023, from 1-5pm at the Knightsville Community Center, in Knightsville, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions for Libby's memorial garden may be made to her husband David Day.
