SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - CCHS BRYCE COLBURN
Hard work and integrity are incredibly important in life, and Clay City senior Bryce Colburn has already discovered this for himself. As part of Clay City's ICE program, he has already gained experience in the workforce.
Bryce has worked at Walmart for nine months. Colburn appreciates that the ICE program allows him to work during traditional school hours. This is his second year in the program.
One of Bryce's proudest accomplishments has been purchasing his own truck.
“I saved up the money from working two jobs in the summer.”
In the summer, Colburn worked at Walmart as well as doing construction.
Bryce plans to graduate from Clay City in December. One of his favorite parts about high school is that he has the opportunity to graduate early.
“I want to get a head start on life and work.”
Though working takes up much of Bryce's time, he likes to spend time with his girlfriend and work on cars in his free time.
In the future, Colburn's goal is to become a truck driver or do maintenance at a factory. He is interested in discovering how things work and making money to support himself.
“I think working on stuff is fun and cool.”
Colburn is extremely thankful for his parents, noting that they are responsible for his success.
“They have taught me so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without them.”
Bryce explains that his parents are his biggest role models. He says that they have instilled values in him like treating others with respect and working hard. Colburn states that his parents have taught him to always work hard for what he wants, as well as teaching him real-world practical skills.
“They helped me get where I am today by supporting me and always helping me with things if I have trouble.”
