CYFL Check-in: Week 5 edition

It was another crossover weekend for the Clay Youth Football League with most of the teams traveling to Sullivan, while a few also stayed home.

Pee Wee

The Wolfpack, a combination of the Dairy Queen Wolves and the Terre Haute Chevrolet Panthers, defeated Sullivan 36-20.

Drake Pettiford led the way with two touchdown runs. Grayson Forquer, Xavier Gurchiek and Thomas Poole each added a touchdown apiece.

Forquer led the way defensively with seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Pettiford, Brody Vencel, Kyler Keith, Akhilleus Lara and Blaze Branson each added four tackles while Branson and Gurchiek recorded a safety each.

The Ace Hardware Bulldogs and Riddell National Bank Lions took part in a dog fight at the CYFL field.

The Bulldogs came out with a 7-0 win.

Quarterback Parker Cox connected with Landon Pestoff for a touchdown pass just before the end of the first half.

Branson Winn led the Bulldog defense with four tackles and Cox added two tackles.

Kyler Wells led the Lions defense with six tackles and a fumble recovery. Kyden Lark and Marius Ghent also added multiple tackles each.

Junior

The Hometown Savings Bank Miners lost a hard-fought game to Sullivan 7-0.

The Miners never quit fighting and took the game down to the wire.

Liam Fabbri, Dalton Dewig, Eli Marlow and Gavin Boiling were the leading rushers. They all fought hard all game long.

Marlow led defensively with five tackles, while Daymon Ferry added four, Dewig, Fabbri, and Maddox Stidman recorded three tackles each.

The Yankee Rose Irish were defeated by Sullivan 20-0.

The Irish offense fought hard, but just couldn’t get anything going.

Jack Dearth led the defense with six tackles, Iverson Vaughn, Cale Cessinger and Max Osborn each added five.

The A’s Pampered Palace Outlaws and Hoosier Homes and Land Cowboys stayed home and battled each other.

Max Raetz led the Cowboys to the 29-6 victory with three touchdowns and two PAT conversions. Jonah Harrington added the other Cowboy touchdown.

Eli Nauman led the defense with multiple tackles, including six tackles for loss and two sacks.

Trinton Monteith continued to lead the Outlaw offense, recording 62 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Monteith also added an interception on defense.

Jackson Pestoff led the defense with five tackles, Jeremiah Dickison added four and Austin Lara and Cam Stearley had three each.

Senior

The Ultimate Warriors just fell short to Sullivan in a shootout, 32-27.

Hunter Hayes led the way with two rushing touchdowns, and an 85-yard interception return for touchdown. Hunter Deweese added a 65-yard kickoff return for touchdown as well.

Case Bath led the defense in tackles and recorded some monster hits.

Carter Caughlin and Kayne Westfall battled against kids twice their size on the line and held their own.

The Carbon Heating and Cooling Packers were defeated by Sullivan 46-22.

Brockton Stewart tallied three touchdowns: two rushing and one on a kickoff return.

Ryan McBride added some solid runs as well as a two-point conversion.

The American Legion Post 2 Red Devils also stayed home and picked up a dominating 33-0 win over the Wabash Valley Plumbing Grizzles

The Red Devils spread the wealth on offense as Beau Leslie, Xander Harper, and Lucas Hollingsworth all found the endzone.

Hayden Whitmarsh added a touchdown on the defensive side as well for the Red Devils.

Markus Bucko led the Grizzles in tackles. Gabe Whitman and Norton Nelson each had big days battling on the defensive and offensive line.
