CCSD MUGSHOT - Julian Waskom

A Brazil teenager faces felony charges for a recent day of being an alleged miscreant.

Julian Waskom, 19, Brazil, was recently arrested by the Brazil Police Department on Sunday on the following list of felony charges:

F3: Armed Robbery-Taking property by putting someone in fear while armed with a deadly weapon

F5: Theft-Use when property stolen is a firearm

F6: Pointing a Firearm at Another(x2)

MA: Possession of a Controlled Substance

MA: Theft(x2)

MB: Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle

According to Brazil Assistant Police Chief Dennis Archer, Waskom is a familiar face to the department and believes his arrest might help solve a few unsolved cases.

Archer said the details about the events leading to Waskom’s arrest are limited due to the ongoing investigation.

However, the incident begins much earlier.

Around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, BPD officers investigated and took a report of a gun stolen from a car.

Several hours later, an unidentified person in Southgate reported two suspicious males attempting to break into cars. Apparently, when confronted by the caller, the two males ran away to the north.

BPD officers conducted a search but were unable to locate the two individuals.

Upon arrival at Southgate, officers searched two vehicles, discovering one was broken into and another car had items spilled out onto the parking area.

Fast forward about an hour later, a local restaurant called to report a disgruntled customer.

Two males came into the restaurant, ordered dinner, ate, and then became difficult when it was time to pay the bill.

One male apparently went behind the cash register and asked to charge his cell phone. When told no, the male said he was going to the bathroom. But instead, went out the backdoor, which has an alarm on it that lets employees know the door is in use.

The employees then confronted the other male at the counter about payment. After a brief dispute, the male lifted his shirt, showing a gun in his waistband, and walked out.

Brazil Police officers and members from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and K9 unit performed another search that turned into a foot chase winding around Brazil.

When officers and the K9 unit found Waskom near Cooper Towers, he matched the previous descriptions and possessed a stolen gun.

Waskom remains incarcerated at the Clay County Justice Center on a $50,000 cash bond awaiting formal court proceedings. A probable case affidavit has been turned over to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

The second individual has not been identified or located.

All individuals named in this matter are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
