CYFL Check-in: Super Bowl edition

The 2023 Clay Youth Football League seasons came to a conclusion on Saturday with three teams bringing home Super Bowl championships.

Pee Wee

The Ace Hardware Bulldogs pulled off the three-peat.

The Bulldogs defeated the Dairy Queen Wolves, 27-18.

The Wolves, playing with only 11 players, fought hard and hung around for as long as they could.

Parker Cox went off on offense with 132 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Branson Winn recorded his first touchdown run as well.

The Bulldogs were led defensively by Kashton Lowry with eight tackles. Jaxon Feider, Nolan Moore and Branson Winn each recorded two tackles. Lincoln Trout recorded two tackles and a fumble recovery and Carson Cooprider recorded two tackles and a forced fumble.

Xavier Gurchiek led the Wolves with 110 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Kayson Keith went off defensively with 16 tackles. Gurchiek and River Stewart each recorded seven tackles apiece.

Junior League

In the Game of the Year, the Yankee Rose Irish defeated the Hoosier Homes and Land Cowboys, 24-22.

The Irish took the early lead, but the Cowboys fought back to take it from them. It was then a back-and-forth game the rest of the way. The Irish took the lead back late and were able to stop the Cowboys offense on fourth down with under one minute to go to seal the win.

Javean Robinson led the Irish with 124 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Avory Morris added 68 yards and a touchdown while Cree Staley found the endzone as well.

Iverson Vaughn and Cale Cessinger led the Irish defensively with eight tackles each. Jack Dearth had seven tackles and Max Osborn had six.

Bentley Bennett threw three touchdown passes. Zyler Williams caught two touchdowns and Karter Brunette caught the other one.

Bennett, Jonah Harrington and Max Raetz all led defensively with big games.

Senior League

The Ultimate Warriors were dominant all season.

The Warriors capped off a great season with a 40-0 win over the Carbon Heating and Cooling Packers.

Hunter Hayes led the Warriors with 180 yards rushing yards and three touchdowns. Case Bath added a touchdown as well.

Preston Parker led defensively with six tackles. Hayes and Bart Gurchiek each added four tackles. Kayne Westfall had four tackles and a fumble recovery.
