BREAKING - Missing Putnam County female found at Brazil home leads to sexual misconduct arrest

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) released information Saturday morning about a missing female teenager found in Brazil with an older adult male who was arrested on allegations of sexual misconduct.

The incident began Thursday afternoon (Oct. 19) when the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office contacted the CCSD about an investigation into a missing 14-year-old female.

Putnam County discovered during their investigation the female left her residence in the early morning hours in the company of an older adult from the Brazil area.

Sharing information, the CCSD quickly identified the adult male in question as Darcey Cox, 46.

The CCSD attempted to contact Cox at his residence, but he refused to answer the door.

CCSD detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, the male and female juvenile.

While the search warrant was executed at Cox’s residence, both Cox and the juvenile were located.

Cox was taken into custody, transported to the Clay County Justice Center, and remanded to jail staff for booking.

Cox was preliminarily charged with:

Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 4 Felony

Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor, a Level 6 Felony

Cox is being held at the Clay County Justice Center on a $25,000 cash bond, awaiting formal court proceedings.
