Danny Ray Hensley, a loving and selfless family man, was born on October 28, 1950, in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he also peacefully passed away on November 22, 2023. Known affectionately as Dad, Papaw, Grandpa, and Dan, he lived his life with a gentleness that was felt by everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Danny was a proud graduate of Gerstmeyer Technical High School, class of 1970. He dedicated over three decades of his life to the railroad industry, where he served as a conductor. His work ethic was a testament to his character, a quality that was deeply admired.

After High School, Danny was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was willing to serve his country with great pride.

Danny enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. He was a proud member of the Murdock Racing Club, the Eagles Post #274 and the American Legion Post #2, where he made many lifelong friendships.

Fishing and motorcycle riding were other hobbies that he enjoyed. However, above all these, what Danny loved most was spending time with his family. He was the heart of his family's Sunday dinners and celebrations, traditions he held dear. His love for his family was evident in these gatherings, where he shared laughter, stories, and the warmth of his presence.

Danny Hensley's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and loyalty. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the honor of knowing him, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents Horatio “Radar” Hensley and Julia “Judy” (Tiffee) Hensley, a brother John Bedwell, a sister-in-law, Sharon M. Hensley, and his in laws, Donald “Don” and Betty Linnabary.

Danny is survived by the mother of his children, Sharon Hensley, his three daughters, Mandra “Mandy” Mason (Damon), Meredith “Moe” Moon (Chris), Macrea “Kakie” Mitchell (Justin), grandchildren, Madison “Maddy” Wilson (Tanner), Mason Moon, Chloe Garrard, Korben “Korb” Garrard, Maddox Moon, Maverick Mitchell, Mazie Mitchell, great grandchildren, Avery “Eggy” Wilson, Machiavelli “Velli” Moon, Eleanor “Ellie” Wilson, Michael “Mikey” Kirton, Ryver Kirton, and a sixth on the way, Iyla Opal Wilson, siblings, Frank Hensley, Susan Fogel (Bart), and Terri Jones (Jerry), as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
