Thomas R. Averill, 55, of Centerpoint, Indiana, passed away at his home, on December 12, 2023, following a battle with cancer.

Tom was born on September 3, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Wynne and Eileen (Cordeiro) Averill. Tom worked as a carpenter for Richardson’s Cabinet in Indianapolis for several years. He also worked as an independent carpenter.

Tom was talented with his hands. An engineer of sorts, Tom could build anything. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. He was especially talented as a finish carpenter and took quite a lot of pride in his work. He enjoyed spending time at Dietz Lake. It was a place he found peace and comfort.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Wynne and Eileen Averill.

He is survived by his 3 siblings: Kenneth Averill, Lorene Roberts (Kevin), and Kimberly Buell (Billy); nieces and nephews: Van E. Hobbs III (Cari), Kandace Henry, Alexandria Edington (Alex), Victoria Edington, Jennifer Abner (Gary Lee), Michael Abner (Amelia), Megan Buell (Chase), and Kaylee Buell (Brayson); companion Anita Averill Jones; step-sons: Chris Doyle and Timmy Doyle as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from noon until 2:00 PM. Services will be held on Saturday, at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Centerpoint Cemetery.

A celebration of life will follow burial services at Dietz Recreation Park Beach House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to defer final expenses.
