DARREL LEE BARNHART, Center Point, IN

Darrel Lee Barnhart, 72, of Centerpoint, Indiana, passed away December 30, 2023, at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Union Hospital due to complications from COPD.

He was born to Charles “Junior” and Doris (Smith) Barnhart, on July 22, 1951, who preceded him in death.

Darrel graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1969.

Most of his employment years were working in maintenance for local companies which include the Brazil I-70 Truck Stop, where he held the position of Maintenance Supervisor.

In his retirement years, he became an avid bird watcher and especially enjoyed his grandkids.

Darrel will be remembered for his helpful nature. He was the “go-to guy” for family and friends. Darrel could do almost anything, mostly self-taught.

Darrel is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Karen, sons Darren (Lisa) Barnhart and Damon (Stacy) Barnhart, grandsons: Devon Barnhart and Dominic Barnhart, brother Steve (Melody) Barnhart, sisters Lynn Clarkson and Melinda Helderman, step-son Troy (Lindsey) Oliveira, step-daughter Tracy (Matt) Pattengale and grandchildren: Adalyn and Jackson Pattengale, as well as several extended family members.

Private graveside services were held at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green.
