Knights draw a bye to open sectional play

Sunday, February 18, 2024

On Sunday evening, everyone involved with high school boys basketball turned their attention to the IHSAA sectional selection show as they waited to see the path they would have to take towards winning a championship.

Northview was among those hundreds of teams.

And the draw was fairly favorable for the Knights as they were the lone program in the Class 3A Owen Valley Sectional to get an opening round bye. Northview will now have the luxury to watch Tuesday’s opener between West Vigo and Owen Valley to see which team it will take on Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m.

Northview split its regular season games against the Vikings and Patriots. The Knights fell to West Vigo by a score of 68-60 in double overtime on Dec. 8 – their third game of the season – and defeated the Patriots by a score of 81-50 on Jan. 6. Owen Valley and West Vigo squared off on Nov. 28 with the Patriots coming away with a 66-51 win over the Vikings.
