Mary Josephine Cox, 96, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Hutsonwood of Brazil. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on November 5, 1927 to the late Charles and Ola (McClanahan) Bussing. Mary Jo graduated from Brazil High School and married Ervin Cox on July 7, 1947. She worked as a nurse at Clay County Hospital for her entire career, and was a life long member of Annunciation Catholic Church.

In her free time, Mary Jo enjoyed time with family, long drives, watching nature, holidays with family reminiscing, playing cards and games, and drinking hot tea. She always looked forward to trips to Raccoon Lake. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; Daughter, Amy Leigh Cox; son, Linn Cox; and her brothers, Charles “Bud” Bussing, Jim Bussing, John “Jack” Bussing and Michael Bussing.

Survivors include her daughters, Anita Jones, Joyce Cox, and Lisa Cox; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cox Woodburn; brothers, Robert “Bob” Bussing and Steve Bussing; sister, Paulette Johnson, and Peg Arnold; grandchildren, Sean Sons, Amber Burnett, Erin Ryde-Registe, and Luanna Pettus; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of Mary Jo’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 22, 2024 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with burial to follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
