Rita Gard-Smith, formerly Brazil

Rita Gard-Smith, of Findlay, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at The Heritage Nursing Home. She was born Rita Ann Ragoshke on May 19, 1933, in Brazil, Indiana, to the late James Ragoshke and Beulah Johnson.

A 1951 graduate of Brazil High School. Rita went on to marry Robert Gard, who preceded her in death in 1979. Later in life, she married Gerald Smith, who preceded her in death in 2023.

Rita was a kind and happy person with a heart of gold. She greeted everyone with a smile and made you feel at ease around her. She was an avid bowler for many years, loved dancing, spent time with family on numerous boating and camping trips, took pride in her cooking, and cherished the many trips and vacations across the United States. She was sister to Donna Barker and June Miller, sister in-law to several, aunt to several more and friend to many. Her positive outlook towards life and kind spirit will be missed by all.

Rita is survived by her children, Kama Pineda, and Kevin (Kelly) Gard, grandchildren, Amy Wisecup, Aaron Pineda, Angela Pineda, Landen Gard and great grandchild, Faith Wisecup.

Visitation will be held at the COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. Funeral services for Rita will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 10:00 am with Pastor Amy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
