Tax Day is fast approaching

Monday, April 8, 2024

Clay County Treasurer Jennifer Flater would like to remind Clay County taxpayers that the tax bills will be mailed out by April 5, 2024. This is the only bill you will receive for the year. Both spring and fall coupons are included in this mailing.

Taxes Due: Spring payments are May 10, 2024, and Fall payments are November 12, 2024. (Due to the Courthouse being closed on November 11, 2024.)

Acceptable payments are cash, check, credit card, or money order made out to the Clay County Treasurer. Our hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Monday through Friday.

If you use a credit card, please note a 2.45% convenience fee will be added. Discover, Mastercard, American Express, and Visa are accepted.

Mailed payments: Detach and return with the Spring coupon by the due date. Return both Spring and Fall coupons when paying for the full year. Enclose a self-addressed stamp envelope for a validated receipt. Otherwise, your canceled check will serve as your receipt. Mail to the following address:

Clay County Treasurer

609 E National Ave Room 101

Brazil, IN 47834

Payments may also be dropped in the drop box outside of the Courthouse at the west side entrance.

Again, this year, our local banks (Clay County locations only) will accept payments before the due date: First Financial Bank, First Farmers Bank & Trust, Riddell National Bank, and The Hometown Savings Bank.

NEW this year!

A QR code will be located on the front of the bills for your convenience. Open the camera on your device, hover over the QR code, and click on the link that will be displayed. This will take you directly to the site where you can pay your bill.

Payment is considered on time when postmarked by the U.S. Post Office by the due date. You must have sufficient funds in your checking account at the time we present your check to the bank, or your tax payment is void.

If you would like to look at your tax bill now, you can access it through the following website. https://lowtaxinfo.com

Input your name, address, or parcel number, then click the search button.
