One man dead after a shooting Friday evening on Nellie Lane in Brazil.

Details are limited due to the ongoing investigation.

However, Saturday morning, Clay County Sheriff Brison Swearingen was able to release a preliminary press release about the case details.

A Brazil resident was found wounded by first responders, and pronounced by the Clay County Coroner’s Office. The family of Brazil resident Andrew T. Bethel, 29, has been notified.

According to Swearingen, the case began with multiple 911 calls reporting an altercation involving shots fired around 7:20 p.m.

Multiple first responders and agencies responded to an area near the 8600 block of Nellie Lane at the southeastern part of Brazil.

Swearingen said only limited information will to be released at this time while investigators are investigating which “appears to be an isolated incident, with no current threat to the public.”

041924 - BREAKING: Police were called to a residence in the 8600 block of North Nellie Lane after witnesses heard gunshots between 7 and 7:30 pm Friday evening. A witness at the scene stated it started as a domestic dispute. Witnesses stated they heard three shots fired. Police and paramedics are on the scene. No further information at this time.
