SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - NHS CADE THOMPSON

Thursday, April 25, 2024

Cade Thompson is a senior at Northview High School. He is a member of the Northview golf team, and he is also involved in the auto-shop classes. In his free time outside of school and sports, Cade enjoys working on cars and trucks.

Thompson is not involved in the internship or ICE program, but he does have a part-time job at Walmart.

In the future, Cade plans to attend Ivy Tech Community College. After attending Ivy Tech, he will transfer to Indiana State University to study automotive education. Thompson explains that it was a combination between his passions and family that led him to pursue this.

“I grew up working on [cars and trucks] with my family.”

Cade's mother has a career in education as well, and he states that she, along with his interest in the automotive industry, has inspired him to study automotive education.

“I have a passion for cars and teaching. My mom is a teacher.”

In the auto-shop program at Northview, Cade is able to use part of his school day to gain practical knowledge about automotive machines. The class has multiple different projects throughout the year, and right now they are working on a very unique car.

“We are working on an all-original 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible that has been in the family since it was new.”

Thompson's favorite part of high school has been the social aspect and all the memories that have come with it.

“My favorite part of high school is the people I've met and the memories we've made.”

Cade's favorite memory was the first “anything but a car day” at Northview. At the end of the year, Northview students drove to school using nearly anything but a car.

“It was awesome to see how everyone came together and showed up to do a final send-off event.”

One day, Thompson would love to have a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with a 426 Hemi engine in it.
