ORIGINAL POST
Clay County Election officials believe voter turnout has been consistent, but on the slow side, at the eight voting sites around the county. NOTE: The courthouse is not open for voting; however, several have shown up today.
Voting is open at the following locations until 6 p.m. tonight;
*Carbon Church
*Center Point Firehouse
*Clay Community Schools Central Office
*Family Worship Center on US 40, near Staunton lights
*Harmony Community Center
*Lewis Township Firehouse
*The Buell Center in Clay City
*VFW Post 1127 in Brazil
WEATHER FORECAST AND VOTING
In 2017, a Dartmouth University study found that one inch of rainfall above the normal amount for the day can decrease voter turnout by up to 1%.
Meteorologists were monitoring Clay County for severe weather, and a Tornado Watch was in effect until 9 p.m.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop Tuesday afternoon and increase in threat as they travel eastward across Indiana.
WATCHING THE RETURNS
Within a few years, the tradition of watching the returns come in at the courthouse has been replaced by social media. The Brazil Times will publish the results in the paper's next edition.
