Can This Election Please be Over?
I give! Uncle! I’ll confess to anything. Just please stop the torture. Can there, finally, be an end to this election?
How many of you are sick and tired of the vile, hateful accusations the presidential candidates are screaming at each other. If I hear one more thing about Hillary’s e-mails or Donald’s “locker room talk”, I think I’m going to throw up.
My ears are bleeding from the repeated mean, snarky, accusations they throw at each other. And my brain is numb from political neuropathy.
It seems that one candidate is a liar and dishonest.
The other is narcissistic and immoral. They’re constantly attacking each other. But I seldom hear what they plan to do to help our country and try to improve American lives. What are they going to do about the economy, health care, our educational system? How are they going to protect us from terrorism and what are they going to do to take care of our military? I never hear either one of them addressing those issues.
If we turn on the TV we are constantly hit with their barrage of spiteful insults. Then after hearing the candidates we have to listen to the news commentators tell us what the candidates just said, what they meant and how that will affect the polls. On and on it goes.
And it’s not just the presidential ads we’re bombarded with. We also have to hear the U.S. Senate candidates, Evan Bayh and Todd Young. Young says Bayh sold out Indiana and became a lobbyist. Bayh says that’s a lie. Young says Bayh is lying about lying.
Enough! The political ads are so bad I look forward to commercials about Viagra and constipation. And the ads are everywhere. They’re on TV, radio, the internet. We can’t get away from it. I think we should make it illegal to have political ads on TV, like it is for cigarettes.
And this time around, I personally feel like the politicians are taking a knee as the National Anthem is playing. I think they’re showing disrespect for our country, our military men and women and to every American citizen. I don’t know who’s going to win this election but I think the American people are the big losers. It’s really hard to grasp that one of those two people is actually going to be the President of the United States of America.
But I will vote. I’ll do my part to preserve our system to keep the freedoms we have that so many brave Americans died for. And whoever wins will be my president. I will show respect for that office.
On the bright side, when the election’s over the ads will stop. Won’t they? Surely they’ll give us a few weeks off before they start on the 2020 election.
Keep Smiling.
