To the Editor:
I send this letter in regard to the direction our country is headed.
I, for one, believe "that this nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all," is not that which is described above anymore.
What is the root cause of this decay?
A respect for God would be a good place to start. As stated by Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address, "that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth."
Our country has become one of relativity, one in which we make the rules and dismiss the existence or presence of God.
The Declaration of Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creators with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Where is the fear of God? There is none among our leadership in Washington, forced to pay taxes to fund abortion, forced to have insurance or be fined, sounds like a dictatorship to me.
Man cannot rely on himself or his own morality because man changes. Only God is unchanging, only His law stands unchanged throughout time.
Some people are offended by the Ten Commandments. They want their own law, not one established in the beginning by God himself. People change. God doesn't.
You wanted change in Washington. You got it. No respect for God's law. No respect for God's people. No respect for this nation's people.
This is a recipe for disaster and we've brought that upon ourselves.
Change can only come with honor. Honor to our forefathers, who fought for freedom. Honor for where this country came from. Honor for those who have fought and died for our freedom, and above all, honor for the one who allowed this country to come to be in the first place.
The land of the free and the home of the brave.
Be brave and stand up for freedom, and above all, give honor to our God. Above this is the only way this nation will stand.
As a wise man I know once said, "it's a heart problem we have here."
