Cheers For The Park Board

Sunday, July 28, 2013

To the Editor:

Well, it finally happened.

We know alcohol got into the golf courses a while back, we know it's gotten closer to our city schools (East Side Elementary School), we now have it in all the drug stores that I've visited recently and it's in our food stores; now "they" want alcohol in the park.

I don't know how many on the Park Board wanted it but I'm glad they took a stand against it for the park is for the children -- more specifically, your children, as mine are grown and do not drink or smoke to my knowledge.

The son taught school for some 33 years and the last two he fought alcohol and dope in the classroom.

The daughter is married and attends church regularly here in old Brazil.

We all have our dos and don'ts, but I remember when I was once told that Brazil would have to close many churches if it wasn't for the taverns helping to keep them open.

I never did get the full meaning of that and I am thinking that someone on the committee was pushing for alcohol in the park and if it didn't happen, they would just take their marbles and go home -- not considering the children who loved to play in the park and go to any amusement event in the park for an evening of fun and excitement.

Early teens love it and older teens are seen many times with either the family or a girlfriend.

It has been noted many times in the newspaper what alcohol has done to all walks of life, from accidents, the dissolution of marriages, less money for food and other essentials to the loss of life.

Cheers for those who voted against alcohol in the park. It's a sad, sad day for Brazil to issue a statement about the Popcorn Festival.

Can Brazil survive without these ultimatums? Old Satan is really working and laughing about his results.

Are there any Christians in Brazil that will step up and say, "We will have a Popcorn Festival."? TV stations all over the country will want to interview each committee member and each Park Board member to quiz them about just how they voted on alcohol in the park. This is news to the world for Satan.
