2019 ARCHIVE - Joe Holechko announced his retirement after 50 years of being a barber. A luncheon in Joe’s honor was held April 6, in the basement of the Annunciation school. The big question for many of his loyal clients was, “Who is going to cut my hair?”

2019 ARCHIVE - Van Buren Elementary hosted the VEX IQ Challenge February 23. A crowd gathered to witness elementary students in 21 teams from 11 schools across the Wabash Valley participate in the event.
2019 ARCHIVE - A kissing booth featured an adoptable pup, “Savannah,” and a helper at August’s Open House at the Clay County Humane Society. Abram, 3,(pictured) and his little brother Harlan, 1, were visiting with their parents Harley and Nick Hofer, of Carbon, were visiting the animals during the event.
2019 ARCHIVE - The Clay City High School’s historic gymnasium floor was installed in 1956, and was removed so a new surface could be laid down during the summer of 2019. The gym floor installation was completed in time for volleyball season in August.
2019 ARCHIVE - In mid November, local residents were admiring a new mural painted on a building located at Chisholm and Crawford Street in Knightsville. The mural was painted by Becky Hochhalter, who has painted several murals in the area — including the mural at the Alabama Bar and Grill in Brazil.
2019 ARCHIVE - The Villas of Holly Brook celebrated National Assisted Living Week with a theme of “A Sparkle of Creativity” and concluded with a splash of fun Friday. Staff members created a safe water slide for residents, visitors and staff members to enjoy that would keep them from getting wet, but still enjoy the fun.
