Berea Christian Church 

We Pray that you will get to experience the love of God this year!

It seems impossible, the year 2020. A futuristic date that many thought would never happen. In fact, it has and we are excited to enter into this new decade knowing that God is faithful.

Beginning this week we are starting a series based on the book “Too Much: Living with less in the land of more” (https://e2elders.org/product/too-much/). God has challenged us to begin the new year by studying the 4 Biblical principles of Gratitude, Contentment, Humility and Trust. We will pair these principles with 4 real life applications, that of debt free living, saving, budgeting and giving. God desires for His people to honor Him in all areas of their lives. Including their finances. Many churches shy away from the topic. They all have their reasons but there is nothing wrong with talking about finances at church. In fact, we are excited to. We are excited for the opportunity that lies ahead for all of us if we commit to these Biblical ideals. We are excited for the strengthened marriages that will result from a lack of stress over finances. We are excited for the examples we can set for our children as they see us seeking God’s will for our finances. We are excited for the potential ministry growth and investment we can make in each other, in this community and around the world as the generosity of God is demonstrated through our giving back to Him. 20  who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  (Ephesians 3:20) is with us on this journey!

As the new year beings, would you consider joining us on this journey? None of us know what lies ahead in life, but we all have the opportunity to get to know Jesus. He desires to guide, protect, and love you regardless of where you have been, what you have done, even what you think of Him right now. He loves you. We are not perfect but we love and serve a God who is. If you do not have a church to call home, we pray that God just might lead you our way. You are invited to come and hear about God’s love for you. We are praying for an opportunity to love you one step closer to Jesus.

First Baptist Church

Upcoming Events: Make plans to stay after Sunday Morning Worship on January 5th for a pizza lunch followed by “Telling Our Story” from about 12:30 to 2 p.m. During this event, Pastor Mark Hetrick will lead the adults, youth, and children to create one large church timeline using symbols, words, and names that will connect our personal stories with the larger story of our congregation. This exercise may give us a better understanding and appreciation for how and why First Baptist Church got to where we are today.

The Missions Committee is planning a dinner for January 26th immediately after Sunday Morning Worship. Current plans are for a soup and potato bar. You may bring a dessert of your choice. Donations for missions will be appreciated.

Thinking about how to add value to your life in the new year? Consider helping with KidMo during Sunday Morning Worship. Join a team of dedicated workers who rotate the responsibility of leading children (kindergarten through fifth grade) in lessons, crafts, games, and songs. What greater privilege is there than to teach a child in the way he should go. See Sarah Goda to sign up.

You are invited to join us at the following weekly services. Sunday School classes for all ages at the First Baptist Church begin at 9:30 a.m. Worship service follows at 10:30 a.m. with Nursery and KidMo offered for children through the 5th grade. On Wednesday, an Adult Bible Study is held at 12 noon at the YMCA and choir practice is held at the church at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Kid’s Klothes Kloset is open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and in the evening an Adult Bible Study and Youth Group (during the school year) for middle and high schoolers both begin at 7 p.m.

Jackson Street Wesleyan Church.

Girl Scout Troop 2902 will meet in the Fellowship Hall Tuesday Evening from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. with Scout Leaders Carolyn Robison and Sheralyn Stewart.

Wednesday afternoon Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. we will be starting a new afternoon Bible Study. Everyone is invited to join us in the study of God’s word.

Wednesday night Bible study will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 pm.

Wednesday night Youth Bible Study will meet at 6:30 p.m. inside the church.

Little Historic Church at Carbon

It is our pleasure to announce that the praise band, P150 will be performing Friday, January 10th at 7:00 PM. P150 is a well known and well loved group in our community.

If you have not had the pleasure of seeing them perform, we would like to welcome you to their concert at Carbon’s Little Historic Church. Admission is free, although we do take up an offering for the maintenance of the church. Come and join us, we’d love to see you!

Peniel United Methodist Church

Happy New Year! We wish you many blessings for 2020!

You are invited to join us at Peniel United Methodist Church this Sunday, January 5th as we celebrate second Sunday after Christmas. Sunday School classes are offered for both children and adults. Classes begin at 10:00 a.m. and related seasonal crafts are offered on occasion for the children.

Our Worship Service begins at 11:00 a.m. and is accompanied by a traditional choir. Pastor Kent Beckman’s sermon is entitled, A New Thing, Oh the Possibilities! The scripture reference is Isaiah 43:18-21 and John 1:1-9. Our Worship Service welcomes children and Pastor Kent provides engaging Children’s Moments that both delight and challenge the kids! Additionally, the celebration of Holy Communion will be shared during this service.

Peniel UMC continues to collect non-perishable food, personal hygiene items and laundry supplies for our local Food Pantry. Your donation will be collected during

the Offering at the Worship Service or you may drop it off at the Fellowship Hall between 12:15-1:00 p.m. We also collect plastic caps and container lids for recycling along with can pull tabs. There is a special “giving tree” in the sanctuary for

donations of school supplies and kid’s clothing items (socks, t-shirts, underwear,

shorts, sweats for sizes 6 through 12). God bless you for your kindness and sharing!
