Tuesday, August 11, 2020

After an unidentified woman was allegedly tied up with duct tape, beaten and left for dead in Clay County, officials confirm the arrest of four individuals believed involved.

Although some details are limited, the unusual situation started Friday when a woman staggred up to a rural home and used a phone to report the incident to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.

When officers arrived at the location they found the victim, who admitted she knew who the attackers were. Apparently the group had a disagreement, and the woman was brought to Clay County, tied up, beaten and left in the area of County Road 500 East and State Road 42. When the woman woke up, she was able to walk to a nearby home for help.

A subsequent investigation and information gathered during an interview with the victim lead officers to Hendricks County. Two people were picked up and interviewed, which led to officers working with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department to locate two more suspects.

The following individuals were arrested and booked into the Clay County Justice Center on felony charges of Attempted Murder (F1), Aggravated Battery (F3), and Criminal Confinement (F3):

Crystal Martin - 40 - Indianapolis

Michael Kahn - 39 - Indianapolis

Manuel Augustine Martinez Jr. - 33 - Indianapolis

Stacie Lynn Bell - 35 - Mooresville, IN

They remain incarcerated on a $100,000 cash bonds with no 10 percent allowed while awaiting formal court proceedings.

“It’s unclear why they chose to bring the victim to Clay County,” said Chief Deputy Josh Clarke about the incident which was wrapped up pretty quickly. “They all knew each other.”
