The Mary T. Klinker Veterans Resource Center, based in Lafayette, is pledging $1,000 of its current funding to a special project to help a local veteran.

Meet Terry. Terry is a 67 year old Army Veteran living in Brazil, Ind., who comes from a long military line.

Of the nine children his mother had, eight enlisted active duty. Terry has a significant roof problem.

It needs replaced all the way down to the rafters. When organizers went to meet Terry, it was raining and they witnessed the water literally pour in to his home.

His family and friends can provide the labor, but the $6,000 estimate on materials is too much for the family to handle.

The MTK center is launching a campaign to collectively come together as a community to give Terry his much needed roof.

You can donate directly through the organization’s website https://www.mtkvets.org/donate/ and designate in the comments section for the roofing job. The group will put your donation towards this cause.

All donations are tax deductible, simply enter your information in the contact field.

If you wish to remain anonymous you may also do so.

Local residents are asked to share this information with friends and groups.

This will be a true grass roots effort to pull this off. Terry needs a safe home for him and his family.

As of noon on Thursday, the fundraising drive had collected $1,720 toward the cost of the roofing project.

That leaves $4,280 remaining.

Please help out if you are able to do so.
