COVID-19 UPDATE:County’s unique positivity rate spikes to 34.2 percent

Clay County has had nearly four times the amount of positive cases than it did in the first seven months of the pandemic. Tripling the number of Covid-19 positive cases, an estimated increase of 327% in the past eight weeks.

COVID-19 spikes in eight weeks

Through the end of September Indiana State Health Department confirmed Clay County had 317 positive cases, but, since then, there have been an additional 1189 positives.

A total of 4,757 unique individuals out of an estimated 26,501 Clay County residents had been tested, with 6,788 tests overall completed.

Per the ISDH data available from November 30, 2020 (released on December 7, 2020), Clay County has 1,506 confirmed positive cases, with an overall 14,422 tests administered since March.

COVID-19 deaths increase too

The data for confirmed deaths due to COVID 19 has also increased.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, five deaths were reported in Clay County by the ISDH as of October 1. The total has risen to 27 as of November 30, an estimated increase of 440% during the past eight weeks.
