MONDAY'S COVID UPDATE: Clay County remains 'orange'; vaccinations extended to those ages 65+

Clay County remains in the ORANGE Advisory Category of the Weekly 2-Metric Score (2.5) on Indiana State Department of Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard. New data will be processed Wednesday, but the overall data is showing a downward trend for the spread of the virus. (The county had been in the RED Advisory Category since December 30, 2020, before the last week’s change.

According to the ISDH data for Clay County available Monday, 76 new tests had been administered with eight positive results, and no additional deaths reported. Data through January 25th shows the drop in the 7-Day Unique Positivity Rate — among the unique people not previously tested (at 10,370) has reached 13.3%, while the overall 7-Day Positivity rating of all test data is 10.4%.

Among the overall positive COVID-19 cases diagnosed (a total of 2,293) in Clay County since March 2020, 54.5% have been female and 45.4% male.

The Indiana Department of Health lowered the minimum age for Hoosiers to receive the COVID-19 vaccination to 65 on Monday.

Residents can register for the COVID-19 vaccine at ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211.

The DOH notes there will be a wait, and for those registering to please be patient.
