On Friday, May 14, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department began an investigation into a significant theft of stolen items, including a handgun, several vehicles, a brush hog, horse saddles, and several thousand dollars worth of power tools and other equipment.

During the investigation, officers were led to a Lewis residence in Clay County, 2773 West County Road 1300 South (in Jasonville), where Hayne, Gardner, and Morris stayed.

Upon arrival, officials were able to see several stolen items in plain sight and were permitted to search the property.

During the search by officers from both departments, deputies found and identified approximately $10,000 worth of stolen property and two active meth labs. (Property owners were contacted to retrieve their belongings.)

Indiana State Police was contacted to bring their clean-up team to the location to dispose of the labs and help collect various drug paraphernalia in the process.

Clay County Sheriff’s investigators arrested three individuals Friday and transported them to the Clay County Justice Center for preliminary booking.

Hutt was arrested by Indiana State Police Wednesday.

At this time, it is unclear whether the Sullivan County Prosecutors Office will file charges in the incident.

Agencies assisting in the investigation included Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Dugger Police Department, Shelburn Police Department, and Jasonville Police Department.
