The Brazil Police Department released the name of the victim killed in a moped crash Saturday morning.

According to Police Chief Clint McQueen, Michael N. Jones, 53, Brazil, died from injuries sustained at a crash scene near Jackson and Leavitt streets around 10:48 a.m. Jones's family has been notified.

Members of BPD and Clay County Sheriff's departments, Brazil Fire Department, and STAR Ambulance responded to the scene. The Clay County Coroner was also notified to respond to the scene.

McQueen said during the accident investigation; it was determined through independent witnesses that Jones was traveling north on Leavitt Street and sped through the stop sign. Jones's moped crashed into the side of an SUV that had the right of way while traveling west on Jackson.

The driver of the SUV was not identified.

McQueen said the investigation is concluded.
