CLAY CITY FAIR Starts Wednesday

Monday, June 20, 2022

Clear, sunny skies are expected for Thursday, June 23, when Hot Air Balloon Rides will take off at the Clay City Fair.

Four people can fit in the basket at a time, with rides starting at 7 p.m.

Fireworks will be put off at the end of the fair, at dark, on Saturday, June 25, said Alicia Jacobs, fair treasurer. She expects they’ll start about 10:30 p.m. that night.

Marshall Nuckolls, president of the Clay City Fair Association, said that they start showing animals on June 22 and 23, and then things really get rolling Wednesday.

He said the theme this year is “Clay City Fair Soaring to New Heights.”

All events will take place at Goshorn Memorial Park.

The fireworks run concurrent with the fair but are not sponsored by the Fair. They are separately sponsored, this year, by Booe Pediatric Dentistry and Iron Horse Detailing.

Also Friday night, there will be a Beef Manhattan dinner, with co-ed softball during the day, lots of food vendors, and bounce houses. They will have shaved ice, nachos, elephant ears, Chinese, and all the normal food truck vendors.

The full schedule of events is listed in an advertisement in today’s newspaper on page 11.
