Have you checked your wallet for counterfeit money lately?

Brazil Police Department encourages residents to check their money for “movie prop $100 bills.”

According to BPD, after posting bail a few weeks ago for an alleged Burglary, Brooklyn N. Akers-Williams, 32, was re-arrested.

An investigation into allegedly using fake $100 bills at two separate businesses in Brazil led to an arrest warrant issued out of Clay Superior Court on Tuesday.

Akers-Williams was arrested later that day and booked into the Clay County Justice Center for two counts of level 6 felony Forgery - intent to defraud, makes/utters written instrument.

Akers-Williams remains incarcerated, awaiting formal court proceedings on a $7,000 cash bond.

Brazil Police Department provided examples of the fake bills on their Facebook website and to The Brazil Times so that people could see what to look for.

If you own, operate, or work for a business that exchanges money, please be cautious about the monetary notes you accept. With the Covered Bridge festival quickly approaching, officials urge residents to be vigilant.

Each year the Brazil Police Department reports several people attempting to pay for goods with fake money.
