National Night Out - Everyone’s Invited

Tuesday, July 18, 2023

Tuesday, August 1 @ Forest Park Cow Palace 5-7 p.m.

Times Staff Report

Clay County joined millions of neighbors across the United States 15 years ago to participate in National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August.

It’s a great opportunity to bring law enforcement, first responders, and neighbors together under positive circumstances, fortifying a true sense of fellowship and community. Originating in 1984, the non-profit crime prevention organization National Association of Town Watch (NATW) has sponsored NNO, which each community creates its own unique experience for 39 years.

Last year, approximately 20 booths were handing out school supplies to families and introducing the community to their services. Brazil Police Department provided food and drinks, while various equipment was on hand from the Brazil Fire Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Jail staff, Indiana State Police and Conservation, STAR Ambulance, and the Putnamville Correctional Facility Fire Department, as well as other volunteer fire departments in the county, were on hand along with games and activities.
