Carolyn Sue Hofmann, 88, passed away August 20, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. Sue was born to the late Orvil and Gwendolyn (Nicoson) Shidler in Clay County on October 31, 1934.

Sue graduated from Clay City High School in 1952. On November 2, 1956, Sue married the love of her life, David Hofmann. Both attended the former United Brethren Church. Sue worked at WAAC Radio, Maumee Collieries Coal Company, and she also owned Sue’s Fabric Nook. Later in life, she worked for Area 7 and Meals on Wheels. In her free time, Sue enjoyed gardening, genealogy, ceramics, and being a great matriarch of her family.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, Robert Hofmann.

Sue is survived by her four children, Steve Hofmann and wife, Amanda, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Hofmann, Kevin Hofmann, Beth Norris and husband, Douglas and Brian Hofmann and wife, Lora; grandchildren, Mindy Landon and husband, Matt, Kayla Garman and husband, Jared, Brittany Hofmann, Dylan Hofmann and wife, Shelby, Cooper Hofmann and wife, Maranda, Spencer Norris and Shelbilyn Norris; 11 great-grandchildren, siblings, Jack Shidler and his wife Brenda, Yvonne Blankman, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 25th from 11-1 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City. A funeral service will begin at 1 P.M. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
