David Deakins, Brazil, IN

David Elmer Deakins, 96, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away on October 2, 2023.

David was born on July 20, 1927, in Staunton, Indiana, the son of David Elmer and Winifred Fay (Davis) Deakins. He graduated from Staunton High School at the age of 17. Following high school he served his country in the United States Navy. As a civilian, David worked at IBM for 33 years. He married Mary Dempsey on January 31, 1954; she survives.

David enjoyed taking care of his property, landscaping, farming, and being the best dad and mentor he could be!

David was preceded in death by his parents David Elmer and Winifred Fay Deakins; siblings: John Deakins, Helen Maesch, Jessie Shephard, Macil Smith, Dorothy Grigsby, and Everett Deakins.

David is survived by his wife Mary Deakins; children: David (Patty) Deakins, Sharon Plemen (Bob), Diana “Dee Dee” Johnson, and Janis Fabbri (David); grandchildren: David A. Deakins, Kimberly Morrison (Ryan), Trey Plemen, Troy Fabbri, Brett Fabbri (Brittanee), and Tony Fabbri (Lyndsey); 8 great-grandchildren; a brother Bob Deakins; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Services will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will be held at 1:00 PM followed by burial at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
