SUBMITTED - Aiden (far right) with his CYFL flag football team.

Northview senior Aiden Swearingen is a member of the football team, playing offensive tackle and defensive end. Outside of school, Aiden and his friends coach a flag football team at the CYFL field.

“Coaching the kindergartners was an experience, to say the least. There were times they made me feel like I was losing my mind and others where I was just so proud of what they'd done. It was awesome seeing them improve each week and get better and better.”

Swearingen explains that his favorite part of coaching is the kindergartners' positive reactions to football.

“My favorite part was how happy they'd get or the smile on their faces when someone made a big play or one of them got a touchdown. It was an experience that I'm grateful for.”

Aiden participates in Northview's internship program by working for T. Myers Custom Polebarns. He explains that it is more management work, rather than the hands-on construction that he experienced working with his father, a general contractor.

“It's nice being able to see the other side of the construction business.”

In the future, Aiden plans to go to college. He doesn't know where yet, but he wants to major in either construction management or accounting and minor in business. He appreciates the versatility of accounting and the demand for construction positions.

“Hopefully after [college], I can help my dad with his business or make my own.”

At some point in his life, Aiden would love to travel the world.

“There's just so much out there that I want to see and experience.”

Aiden explains that he is interested in visiting other countries as well as exploring cities throughout the United States.

“I'd like to do a tour through Europe and parts of Russia. I'd also like to see all the major cities in the U.S., especially [Los Angeles].”
